Mental Health (30th May 2019)
It has been evident that Mental Health week has again brought the issue to the forefront of the public’s thoughts as community projects and Royalty highlight the need for more acceptance and ways of dealing with issues around Mental Health.
Viking Training Ltd and its partner training company First Aid 4 Mental Health can assist groups, organisations, companies, sports clubs, schools and anyone who wishes to gain skills and knowledge in the arena of Mental Health. We want people to become MENTAL HEALTH CHAMPIONS.
Look to gain a recognised certification with an Ofqual regulated course. We are looking to provide all current serving and ex serving military personnel, emergency services (Fire, Police Ambulance), sports coaches (at all levels) players and the general public to undertake one of the courses we offer. This will boost the number of people who can aid others with Mental health issues.
How can this be achieved? More trained First Aiders in Mental Health is a good start. Having the knowledge and skills of being able to identify possible Mental Health Issues with friends and colleges, being able to start a conversation with someone who may be going through a tough time, knowing what to say and where to sign post them are all process that can assist in their progress from the despair and darkness into the light at the end of the tunnel.
It is the stigma around Mental Health that causes many not to talk about their experiences, we need to change this. Knowing that people are there to help them and guide them should indicate they should not suffer in silence, alone and unaware that support and treatment is available to them.
We offer courses from Level 1 (Awareness), Level 2 (First Aider in Mental Health) up to Level 3 (Supervisor in Mental Health) all these courses will provide the information, skills and knowledge on how to deal with issues around Mental Health and support those who may disclose such issues to you.
Courses can be attended by those aged 14yrs and over for Level 1 & 2. For Level 3 you will need to be 16yr and over. Time scales are to fit into your organisations, groups, schools, club’s availability. Courses must be completed in 8 weeks, each session must have a minimum of 2hrs duration, we run all courses to your available time frame as long as we complete them in accordance with Awarding body policy.
Please contact Viking Training Ltd or First Aid 4 Mental Health to discuss all the courses the companies offer.
