The Level 2 First Aid in Mental Health Awareness course is suitable for everyone, but has been designed in helping employers to provide a positive Mental Health culture within the workplace, but will work just as well within a school, college or club environment. The course also looks to provide learners with information on a range of the most common Mental Health conditions together with the skills to be able to act should a condition be suspected. Learners undertaking this course will be considered First Aiders for Mental Health and be a point of contact within the workplace, school, college or club to help and support those who may have a suspected Mental Health issue.

Course Content

Building on the Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health, this course introduces the First Aid for Mental Health Action Plan (CARE) which allows learners to provide their peers with comprehensive guidance and support for a suspected Mental Health issue.

Learners will be able to provide signposting to professional help, whilst also offering support to that person whilst they are receiving professional assistance.

This course also covers the effects of drugs and alcohol. It provides learners with the skills and knowledge to assist employers, club or school managers in implementing a positive Mental Health culture to support employees, school friends, club members or anyone who may disclose a Mental Health issue.

Assessment

There is a written question paper.

Certification

Learners will be awarded the Ofqual Regulated Level 2 Award in First Aid for Mental Health.

Additional information

This course ideally runs over 6 hours during a one day session, but we have the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire. Providing this one day course is completed within 6 weeks of the starting date, each training session lasts for a minimum of two hours, then the course can be signed off as completed by all who have attended all the sessions and achieved the 6hrs of training required for this Level 2 course.

The minimum age is 14 years old, with parental or guardian consent required prior to the course for candidates under 18 years old.
