Course Overview

This course builds on the Manual Handling of Objects course where we provided information on risk assessments, legislation, hierarchy of measure, TILEO and other processes.

Safe moving of people is designed to show those who are involved with having to move people in a care or hospital environment, but also how it can be utilised within a person’s home moving them with dignity and respect.

We provide techniques on safe moving of people with wheelchair, hoist, assisted walking, moving up & down in a bed. How we can assist a person with limited mobility in and out of bed, chair and walking. Assist someone who has fallen back up into a chair or standing position.

This course requires that we can access the equipment that your company has in its premises so that all are fully conversant with all equipment they could use in their daily work.

Pre-requistes

Learners would have already undertaken and hold a valid Moving Objects Course Certification prior to attending this course.

Assessment

Assessment is continous through out the course, with students demonstrating competence through practical scenarios.

Additional information

There are number of practical scenarios that we will practise throughout the course. We request to support these scenarios that your wear flat shoes and trousers.

We will be practising techniques for moving patients, whether on the floor, in chairs or on beds. It is important you have level of fitness to be able to carry out these activities. The techniques are designed to protect your back, but if you have any health concerns, please discuss with the trainer at the start of the course.
